Conception – fertilization of the egg cell

When the sperm meets the mature egg cell in the fallopian tube, fertilization takes place. Only a single seminal thread out of millions manages to bore into the ovum and fuse with it. Both the egg and the sperm contain 23 chromosomes, which together form a tiny egg cell. It contains a total of 46 chromosomes that contain the genetic material. In other words, everything your baby needs to grow into its own individual.

As in natural fertilization, the genetic material of the egg and sperm are fused into a single cell. Mature egg cells are removed from the ovary and fertilized with sperm outside the body. If fertilization is successful, these are placed in the woman’s uterus.

You can buy a pregnancy test in the pharmacy, but also in the drugstore. Most women first choose this route to do the test at home before going to the doctor. A home pregnancy test measures the level of the HCG hormone in the urine. This hormone is produced by the body shortly after fertilization and is therefore the best evidence of pregnancy.

The test strip is held under the urine stream. Depending on what test they have and what the instructions say, the strip will change color, meaning you’re pregnant. If the strip does not change color, the test is negative and you are not pregnant.

If you take the test on the day your period is supposed to be, the color of the strip may only be very faint. Am I pregnant or not? If you are not sure or could not interpret the test correctly, then take another test a few days later or have your doctor do a blood test.

You can never really know if you’re pregnant without a pregnancy test, but most women instinctively sense that a little ball of cells is growing inside you and that you’re pregnant. In most women, however, it is the case that only two weeks after the implantation of the egg, the period does not come.

However, it is possible to continue having your monthly bleeding while you are pregnant. However, this is usually weaker than usual. If you continue to bleed despite a positive pregnancy test, see a doctor.

Signs of Pregnancy

In early pregnancy, women often do not feel any signs of pregnancy. Only a little later do you realize that you often have to urinate, that you are already very tired in the early evening, that you have a funny e.g. B. has a metallic taste in the mouth, frequent nausea and sensitive dark nipples.
